Abstract

Background: Skin problems are a current trend affecting people around the world,
one of which is acne vulgaris. Acne can cause self-confidence issues in sufferers,
leading them to seek medical help to overcome the problem. This study aims to
determine the health-seeking behaviour and self-confidence of sufferers of facial
skin problems (acne vulgaris) at the Hevi Beauty Care Clinic.
Method: This study used a descriptive design. The sample size was 326 people with
purposive sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data were
presented in the form of frequency distribution and percentages.
Results: This study found that the self-confidence of acne vulgaris sufferers was
low, with health-seeking behaviour in the good category.
Conclusion: The self-confidence of acne vulgaris patients was found to be low, with
health-seeking behaviour in the good category. Further research is needed to
improve the self-confidence of patients with acne vulgaris.
Keywords: acne vulgaris, health-seeking behaviour, self-confidence
